@Whackooyzero I didn’t say ALL fantasy lyrics, but most sure are cheesy. Nowadays I tend to write lyrics that are in a way that you CAN read things into them if you want to but you don’t have to. A nice example would be a song I wrote recently called “Uhl Belk the Stone King” (a character from the Shannara series). Basically it’s about a conservative dictatorship, but if you want it to be about a cool stone-guy you don’t HAVE to read that into it. It’s on the right level, me thinks.
@damillionmalania How are fantasy lyrics laughable? Just because they are about something not real? Sure some are very cheesy, but how can you call the lyrics to a song like “The Sorceress” by Fates Warning or “In The Dragon’s Den” by Symphony X laughable? They are very well written.

Singing about Merlin, steel and wars was laughable, and didn’t do them justice. 
Epica, The Black Halo and Ghost Opera have great lyrics though! 
Kamelots an awesome band. Saw them live a couple of months back so I can guarantee that it’s not just on the albums. 
They’re awesome live too!
New Kamelot album NA release September 14!!!! “Poetry for the Poisoned” its gonna be sooooooo sick! This song is amazing, (2nd favorite song behind Fourth Legacy) and the fourteen new tracks will be just as divine!
