As the founder and chief executive officer of Amazon.com, Jeff Bezos 86 has revolutionized commerce and pioneered a wide range of online innovations, from user reviews to one-click shopping. Bezos graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Princeton with a degree in electrical engineering and computer science. Before heading to Seattle to found Amazon, Bezos helped DE Shaw & Co build one of the most technically sophisticated quantitative hedge funds on Wall Street. In 2009, Bezos was named one of the Time 100 and as such was honored with a tribute from Microsoft founder Bill Gates, who noted that Bezos’s biggest legacy might be his introduction of the Kindle.”This electronic book is Jeff’s brainchild and may well revolutionize not only how we acquire books and periodicals but also how bookworms like me actually read them,” wrote Gates. “That would put him in the same ranks as Johannes Gutenberg.” Film by Michael E. Wood. Find more Princeton Engineering alumni videos at: www.princeton.edu
