Aprilias’s 850cc V-twin Mana is the world’s first fully automatic motorcycle but does it live up to Aprilia’s claim of it being every motorcycle you’ll ever need, rolled neatly into one package? Watch the video to see as we pitch it against the best-selling-middleweight of last year the Suzuki SV650 Sport, a conventional two wheel scooter in the Honda Silver Wing and the three-wheel Pigaggio MP3 400 Read the full article in the latest edition of Motorcycle News, out Wednesday 20th February 2008 Satisfy all your biking needs to www.motorcyclenews.com

omfg it never lets me play videos on youtube for no reason
@RevanCorana I rode it and loved it. It’s punchier than the Aprilia Shiver because it’s in the power all the time. Where you notice it is when you dive deep into a corner hard on the brakes and instead of tap dancing on the gear lever and flapping the clutch, you hang on, torture the rubber up the apex, stay focussed and crack the throttle open as you exit. The extra brain RAM you free up by not worrying about gears leaves you with brain power to devote to line and brakes. I found it faster.
@ClownFight @ClownFight agreed if this bike was as racy and punchy than conventional bikes, but it’s not. A good concept but there is still left to develop on it.

what about fuel consumption? you said its very much like a scooter but you never once mention fuel consumption

Okay. I’m not a fan of a auto gear box.
I’m confused though, he said it was valentines day, then easter! Which one!?
They are fixed and therefore don’t allow you to keep the engine in maximun torque rpm when you want efficiency nor in maximum power rpm when you want speed, a CVT does. Also the engine has zero efficiency whenever the clutch isn’t fully engaged, which happens every time you shift gears on a normal gearbox, but never on a CVT once you start moving.
The end result is more fuel efficiency AND more performance.
do you guys think the mana will beark down easily?
does the mana carry the Italian habit of breaking down all the time?
Didn’t like the sound of the MP3 going round that corner
I have an automatic only license for when I bought the MP3 but I traded it in for the Mana because the MP3 broke. And I have never looked back. Yes it is Automatic but riding it in geared mode is great too. Its an excellent bike all round
Biking would be boring without gear shifting and being able to pop wheelies. Can you imagine riding an automatic Hayabusa lol
Tell me exactly what is wrong with gears?…..Nothing!
Tart it up like a monster and it would be awesome. I’ve been riding and racing for decades and I can’t wait to get one. Leave it in auto for the daily motorway grind to and from work then put it in Sport mode with the sequential 7 speed shifter for the weekend scratch up the mountain. Brilliant
For crying out loud, F1 cars have sequential computer controlled gearboxes. This is the future of sportbikes. If you need a clutch and an old-style gearbox to feel masculine, you’re already a homo slomo
some people might not be able to use a clutch or change gear, so they have to ride an automatic. and i think the mana looks awesome.
ya know the really funny thing? I find that guys that say things like,’Those are for fags and these are for real men” are usually the guys who aren’t very secure in the own sexuality. I
I’ve got news for you bud. Real men don’t give a sh!t what anybody thinks of their ride what ever it may be.
is it good for a beginner?
id def.buy one lol
I have owned one for a month now and I have to say I am in love! So far it has been an amazing experience, it is quite socialble and friendly around town, but give her a rev on the open roads and she will erupt! Thank you aprilia and no I am not employed by them! thanks for posting.
I did my test on an auto so I would consider one. I think it looks fab and is definately the future for motorcycles.
I wouldn’t mind riding this save the stress of changing gear and storage. I had a bike accident so its good for me.
Clutch or big motorcycle equals man?
No fatalities on three wheels, better mpg vs motorcycle. No money plus high mortality rate equals a tough choice.
I don’t need a clutch or a bike to be a man- that happened at birth. I’ll buy one just to give a homophobe the chance to call me gay. Then we’ll see who the “man” is. Ha!
